The Unwritten Rules of Beer & Golf

Updated: Mar 7

Golf and beer go together like peanut butter and jelly—only way better. But just like the game itself, there are some unwritten rules when it comes to drinking on the course. Follow these, and you’ll always be welcome in the group.

1. First One to Lose a Ball Buys the First Round – It’s only fair. You put your Titleist in the woods? That’s a two-stroke penalty and one beer purchase.

2. Beer Pace = Golf Pace – Don’t be the guy who finishes three before the second hole. But also, don’t be the guy nursing one the whole round.

3. The "Par Beer" Rule – If you make par, someone owes you a beer. If you make birdie, you get two. If you make eagle… everyone buys you one.

4. Beer Bogeys Are a Thing – If you triple bogey, it's time to shotgun.

5. Never Let a Cart Beer Go to Waste – If someone forgets a beer in the cart, it is officially up for grabs.

6. The "19th Hole Toast" Is Mandatory – Win or lose, everyone raises a glass to the round.

Now that you know the rules, tag your squad and plan the next round accordingly. And remember, swing first, sip second.
